Add subspecies to country checklists
The "correct" set of subspecies this is. This may be possible using IOC range data, though there may be the occasional error. But it would allow a starting point for future iteration - we could happily accept amendments.

Add eBird entry data (protocol, # of observers, distance/area traveled) etc. to mobile app
Please add eBird entry data (protocol, # of observers, distance/area traveled) etc. to the mobile app, so it isn't necessary to go into the windows application later and add that data for export to eBird.

Include a running species total while recording
In the early days of Bird Journal. While having the entry page open and still recording there used to be a running species total. I really miss this feature, and hope it is something that could be added back in the future.

Firsts Map
Introduce a new map that shows the location of firsts. By default it would show world lifers. Filtering would allow it to show firsts for a particular year or country.

Can we have a World mammals list?
Given that many birders travel extensively and, when doing so record most mammal species that the see, could a World mammals list be included in the library?

I expect this to be resolved by adding:
– Date range filtering: http://support.birdjournal.com/forums/262707-general/suggestions/6322787-date-range-filter
– Observations list screen: http://support.birdjournal.com/forums/262707-general/suggestions/6324287-species-count -
A filter for the earliest date of a spring migrant
A graph showing the earliest and latest date, for each year, of each spring migrant so that it would be easy to compare.

Photo icon for species list items
Add an indicator on the Species Report to show if there is at least one photograph for that species in any entry. As it is a report it doesn't much matter if it makes the report a bit slower, but there could be a checkbox to turn the feature off.

Allow display order of custom Observation/Entry properties to be changed
Currently these are displayed in the order that they were entered and cannot be changed. It would be nice to allow the ordering of these to be changed to something more logical afterwards.

Most species in one day
When we click on "Summary" we are shown, among other things, the "Most species in one day". I would love it if in the "Entries section, you could select a year, location, month etc and be given the "Most species in one Day" for the selected criteria. What was my biggest day at a particular site? What was my biggest day in March 2013?

Graphs for iOS & Android
Add graphs, like those found on the desktop version of Bird Journal, to the mobile apps, so you can see for example, your species counts by, year, month, location, etc.

Add an Ordnance Survey grid reference tool (and perhaps Vice County too!)
This would be useful when exporting records for recording schemes. The six figure reference would be most useful, I think.

Allow the import of Song Recordings not just Photos
I love that you can upload photos of species taken but I would also like to be able to add mp3 tracks of bird songs I have recording during my observations.

Only display the parent location, allow user to click to display any nested locations
I have hundreds of locations all in a nice hierarchical structure. For example, In the United States (the parent), hierarchy is broken down state, county, city etc. Instead of scrolling through hundreds of locations, how about clicking United States, scrolling to find Wyoming, click to open up Wyoming, scroll to Laramie County, click Laramie County, then click Medicine Bow National Forest. This is how Windows File Explorer works. I do not programs that expand all nested data automatically. Programs that do I wonder why I waste my time with a nested database structure.
One problem with "barfing out" all of…

Date range on entries
Allow to add an entry for a date range rather than a single date. This would be helpful when adding records where for example, only the year is known. Also when adding records from a multi-day trip.

allow comparison between sightings in given years
i.e. for year 1 list sightings with comparison for year 2 highlighting sightings seen in both years and sightings seen only in year 1 or 2. Preferably with the option to specify a date range.

Way to view first observation for each year for a species
Whether in the Firsts report, or within the Species section, it would be very nice to see "first observed" date for all years observed to be able to see trends, compare to years with similar weather patterns, etc.

Allow to create new locations *above* built-in locations
E.g., The United Kingdom has two counties Leicestershire and Rutland. Sometimes these are reported as one and sometimes separately.
What would be nice is to create a new location "Leicestershire and Rutland" and set that as the parent for both of them.
The issue is that as Leicestershire is a built-in location (it's installed from the ISO-3166-2 location pack), it cannot be edited.
A solution could be that built-in locations do not define a parent location anymore, instead they define an "ancestor" location, and the parent location could be set as normal, but only to locations that are a descendant…

It would be nice to be able to attach PDF-files to observations.
