We’re considering if we can make a basic form of this available fairly soon.
This may mean accepting only a predefined format that we’d have samples for.
Now that all library content is available to everyone this feature is even more valuable.

An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks Mark, makes sense. We're hoping we can bring the desktop/web interface to the mobile apps too. That would then bring this feature to the mobile apps and a lot more besides.
An error occurred while saving the comment You can filter in the mobile apps too. You can filter e.g. the entries screen to 2020 Blackcap. I suspect that would give you what you're looking for?

This is something we’re considering. For technical reasons we’d need to hold a copy of your eBird/BirdTrack password to make this possible.
Is that something you’d be comfortable with?
It’s obviously not ideal, but we’d make sure everything is fully secure.
An error occurred while saving the comment Correct, this feature is to make upload to eBird/BirdTrack essentially automatic once setup.
Good point Mark. I'd originally imagined it would sync everything. Do you think this would be an issue?
I'm sure country recorders would have the ability to filter records somewhat.
We could allow to mark entries as not to be synced, but I feel this might start to get complicated. I'd originally imagined allowing e.g. sensitive records to be flagged not for sharing.

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi,
This is possible already in the desktop app. When on the search screen, use the species filter at the top. I've attached a screenshot illustrating.
On the mobile apps however this capability doesn't get exist.
Can I confirm which devices you're looking to do this on?
It would also be possible to do this on a tablet/phone using the web app, which is essentially the desktop app: http://blog.birdjournal.com/post/bird-journal-web-app-now-in-public-beta

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi,
We've just released a public beta for a web version of Bird Journal: http://blog.birdjournal.com/post/bird-journal-web-app-now-in-public-beta
Does this meet your needs? Or are iPad app changes still desirable too?
Best wishes,
Justin

An error occurred while saving the comment It sounds like you're referring to the checklist report. This is for viewing a report only, suitable for printing for a trip. It is not interactive.

An error occurred while saving the comment @bnsdomit: The observations report may do what you're looking for, when filtered to state.

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Jeff,
Depending on when you imported your records, you may want to re-import them to fix this. I'm happy to help you do this if you wish, just let me know via email.
Best wishes,

An error occurred while saving the comment Not quite sure I follow Trevor. When adding a photo to an observation it shows up:
- Next to the observation
- For the species of the observation
- For the location the entry was madeWhat behavior would you like if different from the above?
Also note, your entries are only visible to you.
Best wishes,
Justin
An error occurred while saving the comment Trevor,
It's possible to add photos to observations already using the desktop apps.

An error occurred while saving the comment @Michael Sorry to hear you're having problems with photos. I'm not sure why that would happen. Can you please provide details via email? This suggestion isn't related.

An error occurred while saving the comment @Pat,
Sorry to disappoint. We've made huge progress over the last couple of years, but there's always more to do!
Where is telling you photos are available on the iPad? I'm not aware of anywhere making that claim, but if something is not clear enough we'll get it updated.
Best wishes,
Justin

An error occurred while saving the comment @Jeff: Yes it's possible to do this via export/import. This suggestion is about making that more seamless. Possibly allowing to sync further changes. (Maybe not always wanted)

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Richard,
It's possible to print observations / species in a compact format using Observation / Species reports screens. Does this do what you're looking for?
Best wishes,

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Ian,
Given that Bird Journal should automatically import the lat/long as a GeoTag, and that this is visible (and clickable) when viewing the photo, do you still want this?
The only additional benefit I can see of this is if the GeoTag is changed you'd still have the lat/long values in the photo information screen. But that's so unlikely I'm not sure it's worth it.
Best wishes,
Justin

An error occurred while saving the comment A Bird Journal user is keen to add this once we've done: http://support.birdjournal.com/forums/262707-general/suggestions/6313034-allow-import-copy-paste-on-the-taxonomy-edit-scree (Likely our next task)

An error occurred while saving the comment Only if there was a lot of interest. Maintaining taxonomies is a lot of work and we already have two world bird taxonomies. (IOC applies many updates from HBW I believe)
Of course we're open to user contributions here, though it would be a big project and require this to be done first: http://support.birdjournal.com/forums/262707-general/suggestions/6313034-allow-import-copy-paste-on-the-taxonomy-edit-scree (Likely up next)

An error occurred while saving the comment FYI, it's possible to type into the date field which is much faster for this case. It's also possible to click on a month to scroll over years and months which is also faster.
I've declined a similar suggestion recently because it should only take a fraction of the time to do this compared with entering the observations themselves. But as this keeps coming up I'll leave it here so people can vote for it if it's still wanted, even with the above information.
(And thank you Edward for creating separate suggestions!)

A nice idea.
What would you like to send? Entry report, exported records, perhaps filtered?
What format do you send it in, and what’s your process at the moment?
Please provide detail in the comments so we know what’s required.
Justin
An error occurred while saving the comment @Anon, thanks, do you export just a subset of your records or the whole lot, since the last time you submitted?
If you send an email to mail@birdjournal.com with details on the missing name I'll message the author to see if it can be updated. Thank you!
