Currently I have to retype my lists of sightings to send to my local bird group. If I could send direct from within Bird Journal this would remove a stage.8 votes
A nice idea.
What would you like to send? Entry report, exported records, perhaps filtered?
What format do you send it in, and what’s your process at the moment?
Please provide detail in the comments so we know what’s required.
My pictures are stretching too much to fit the monitor and is making them look soft. Is there any way that we (the users) could control the sizes that the images are shown at? As I would not like the images to be shown at larger than 100%.

It is very much easier using a checklist when you already have entries for the site. If you expect a very similar range of species at a new site, this would help on early visits.1 vote
It would be useful if in the text entry fields of Bird Journal (Notes, weather, etc.) if there were some basic formatting tools e.g. bold type, italics, underscore and particularly, if you are area a poor typist like myself, a spellcheck function.4 votes
At present the mobile version only shows common names for species. Given that there is no standard common name list (some species have multiple common names, some common names apply to multiple species) it would be helpful to show the scientific name in the species entry page to avoid confusion. Ability to search on scientific name would be better yet.2 votes
i think the bird count dial would be better if it was like a calculator keyboard5 votes
I'd like to export records easily to the Essex Field Club, which has the ability to sync MapMate data. See link:http://www.essexfieldclub.org.uk/portal/p/Essex+species+data
Many other recording schemes apparently use this system.I think Bird Journal has an easier to use interface, but would like the ability to easily transfer records across.4 votes
On the species enquiry screen the ability to increase the size of the drop down box so you can see all the records

Similar to BirdTrack & eBird support, add support for exporting records to the National Biodiversity Network11 votes
In the mobile version we have birds seen this year, this month and this week (but not a day list!) It would be more useful if we could specify a start date for a species count, which would allow us to do trip counts, that don't necessarily start on the first day of a month! It would be even better if we could filter to get the species themselves (although that looks a bit like another suggestion, which is more general).2 votes
I propose we:
– Add day filtering to the mobile apps
– Add end date filtering to the mobile apps
Are you also suggesting we add a species count for a custom date range to the summary screen? If so, I think that would be best captured as a requirement for:
Let me know what you think.
This would be via location packs in the library. We'd install "Location Packs" relevant to you.0 votes
Species are currently sorted alphabetically or taxonomically as per settings, but not grouped.
Should this be an option? Should we group by family even when sorting alphabetically? (I think so)0 votes
If you want to record a count for each species for each day, then the current narrow checkbox is insufficient.
We should probably allow an option to switch between wide & regular check-boxes to handle both of these cases.0 votes
Via a slider / number box on the filter bar.
Page orientation should switch to landscape if there are too many checkboxes.0 votes
Just a checkbox on the filter bar would do it.0 votes
The species progress graph in the graphs analysis section (not the summary screen) shows points to allow precise values to be seen on hover.
Ideally it would be possible to hover anywhere on the line to see a tooltip, and points would refer to individual (or multiple) entries as annotations. Hovering over them would show a details and allow linking to them.
The original design included this behaviour, but it was not included in the most recent update to this graph, as it was considerably more work:

The Bird Journal desktop apps indicate when library updates are available by showing a colourful number badge next to the library button, and then again on the updates tab.
The mobile apps do not currently indicate when library updates are available, meaning they could be missed.
(One exception is that a number badge is shown on the updates tab in the iOS app, but this is not discoverable until opening the library.)
The mobile apps should provide a clear way to indicate library updates are available, taking into account the differing menu presentation in the mobile apps.0 votes
Provide an option to swivel the map around rather than having to twist your head off your shoulders! (Originally suggested by Ian Bennell)
FEEDBACK NEEDED: Which maps would this be useful for? Picking geotags, browsing maps or both?0 votes
Photo properties currently include GeoTag, Time, and Caption. I would like to be able to add custom properties to each photo (e.g. photo ID, photographer, etc.).0 votes
