Add hybrids and/or sp to the list. For example, I sometimes bird in an area where Carolina and Black-capped Chickadees hybridize.
I would like to be able to add hybrids seen.Where I can't identify a bird down to species, I would like to be able to just choose Crow sp. or Chickadee sp. for example.

automatically making space for the next bird in an entry when the box is full with 15 (?) birds without having to fiddle about
automatically make space for the next bird on the entry as after about 15 birds you have to go through the process of moving the list up to make space for the next one., which slows adding birds and is annoying and time wasting. You may already have fixed this in the newer versions. Alastair

Provide a hybrid map view
Whilst on the maps section I found I had to keep flicking between the 2 views to try and pinpoint the exact location. Could we have a hybrid option included?
SUGGESTION EDITED to split out multiple suggestions:

add shortcut filter for seasonal lists
Would be nice to define dates for seasons in settings (winter is different in N hemisphere than in south). Then can count, filter, and compare against a winter checklist, etc. This is also nice for migration checklists and counting. Would also assist in submitting seasonal observations to local records committees.

Default checklist filter by checklist location
Don't count a bird against a checklist in which it has not been observed. I noticed that American Robin is already counted against my Czech Republic checklist even though I have not observed it there, but because I have seen it elsewhere. Filters can take care of this, but I find it a little odd.

Prompt on logging out
If you accidentally log out "in the field" where there is no internet access, you are locked out of Bird Journal, until you can re-establish internet access. It would be useful if a "Are you sure you want to log out?" prompt was displayed (preferably with a default of "No")

Filter - Entries - A Go To Date
Filter - Entries
1) Have an option to select a specific date (faster than scrolling through lots of entries)
2) Show all entries on a specific date
(So all entries from that date can be seen irrespective of sites visited on that day)1 vote -
Filter - Location - A list of ALL dates for a location
Filter for Locations - provide an option to display ALL relevant dates for the chosen site in a list.
(Rather than 4 or 5 recent entries and then the Species Distribution Chart)Do not have these dates open as at present to show a complete entry
(This will allow users to select the date they want more readily)Allow those dates to be clicked on to be taken through to the desired entry.

Create property "Exclude"
Create a special property "Exclude" that removes a record from all totals, badges etc. This would allow people to include thins like heard-only, NTVs, escapes etc., but not have them added to totals etc.

Improve lifer & first badge presentation on the mobile apps
It should look the same as on the desktop app in a nice orange badge, not just text.

Have different symbols for different taxon in the Entries menu
At the moment the 'Entries' screen left hand column (the one listing dates and places) has two symbols, a bird for birds seen and a butterfly for everything else. Could it be possible to have different basic symbols for other taxon, for instance paw-print for mammal, dragonfly for dragonfly, leaf for a plant etc?

Easier selection of historical dates
In the desktop application, it’d be more convenient if the new Entry screen defaulted to the last date the user selected, rather than today’s date. That way, when entering a sequence of historical records, you would not have to scroll through the calendar repeatedly at the start of each entry. It could still default to today when the program is first opened.

Add HBWC to the library
HBWC taxonomy takes its inputs from all available "fixed" taxonomies on a collaborative basis and is under constant review. Have you considered adding an HBW World list to the library?

Location mapping
Is it possible to generate a map of locations without having to log sightings for these in the first instance?
When setting up the database for different countries I first enter all of the locations that I visited or intended to visit.. It would be good if these locations could be viewed on a map first.
Also, from a bird club point of view it would be very useful to be able to generate a map of all of the commonly used locations/sites.

Export to an alternative folder
I would like to export reports directly to a alternative folder to "downloads" but cannot find out how to create an alternative path. Is this possible?

Monthly Summary function
As Bird Journal is organised in months, it would be nice to have a feature where you could write a monthly summary with chosen images and map locations. This in turn could be exported in a format that could be uploaded to a blog or Facebook?

Survey Categories
At some point in the future it would be good if you could choose a Survey Category, so you could link Observation and Entry properties to only those categories.
For instance. If you are observatory and you are inputting ringing records, you could have properties like: Ring number, fat, wing length, age, weight...etc, but only have them show in the entry window when you choose the Survey Category: ‘Ringing’? And the same could be done for Moth Trapping, Butterfly Transects and others.
Those categories could also be used for entry searches.
