For missing species or non-bird wildlife

Allow wide checkboxes for checklist report
If you want to record a count for each species for each day, then the current narrow checkbox is insufficient.
We should probably allow an option to switch between wide & regular check-boxes to handle both of these cases.

Allow to export the checklist report
Export is not possible for this report at the moment, unlike other reports. The reason is there is too much formatting to output as the typical CSV file.
If you'd like to see this, please specify whether you would like the export as CSV without formatting of any kind or as an XLS file with formatting.
Of course, please consider we may be able to add the flexibility needed to the report so you don't need to export it and modify it manually. We'd prefer that, as everyone will benefit from the easy customization.

Allow to customize the number of columns in the checklist report
Via a slider / number box on the filter bar.
Page orientation should switch to landscape if there are too many checkboxes.

Allow to exclude subspecies from the checklist report
Just a checkbox on the filter bar would do it.

Improve lifer & first badge presentation on the mobile apps
It should look the same as on the desktop app in a nice orange badge, not just text.

Annotate species progress (analysis feature) graph with entries
The species progress graph in the graphs analysis section (not the summary screen) shows points to allow precise values to be seen on hover.
Ideally it would be possible to hover anywhere on the line to see a tooltip, and points would refer to individual (or multiple) entries as annotations. Hovering over them would show a details and allow linking to them.
The original design included this behaviour, but it was not included in the most recent update to this graph, as it was considerably more work:

Create property "Exclude"
Create a special property "Exclude" that removes a record from all totals, badges etc. This would allow people to include thins like heard-only, NTVs, escapes etc., but not have them added to totals etc.

Add a country/location/patch/region first badge
Similar to the newly added Lifer! and Year First! badges, allow firsts for a country, locatation, patch or region to be indicated.
Country First could be added pretty easily.
For patch/locations we'd need to customise which locations you wanted to show firsts for. Perhaps by allowing you to "Favorite" locations? Favorite locations could also show counts on the summary screen.
What do you think? Let us know your requirements & preferences in the comments.

Filter - Location - A list of ALL dates for a location
Filter for Locations - provide an option to display ALL relevant dates for the chosen site in a list.
(Rather than 4 or 5 recent entries and then the Species Distribution Chart)Do not have these dates open as at present to show a complete entry
(This will allow users to select the date they want more readily)Allow those dates to be clicked on to be taken through to the desired entry.

Filter - Entries - A Go To Date
Filter - Entries
1) Have an option to select a specific date (faster than scrolling through lots of entries)
2) Show all entries on a specific date
(So all entries from that date can be seen irrespective of sites visited on that day)1 vote -
Ability to compare actual records against potential number of records
The ability to report number of nights a moth is caught each month against number of nights trap run is something I manually produce on a monthly basis for key moth Families such as Sphingidae, to pass on to researchers. This data is more useful for mapping distribution / flight periods than pure count data

Custom report allowing you to compare species lists between sites
Custom report allowing you to compare species lists between sites, ability to highlight species common to some / all the selected sites and species only recorded at one - initially direct comparison between two sites would be great, this is something I manually do at the moment.

"Year Firsts Count" graph
Add a new "Year Firsts Count" graph. It would look much like the current Year Species Count graph, but instead of showing the species count for each year it would show the number of lifers/firsts (filterable) for each year.
After discussion via Facebook & Twitter this was considered a "nice to have" rather than "must have", etc. Feel free to vote for it if you would like to see it added!
(It's pretty easy to do.)

Indicate when library updates are available in the mobile apps
The Bird Journal desktop apps indicate when library updates are available by showing a colourful number badge next to the library button, and then again on the updates tab.
The mobile apps do not currently indicate when library updates are available, meaning they could be missed.
(One exception is that a number badge is shown on the updates tab in the iOS app, but this is not discoverable until opening the library.)
The mobile apps should provide a clear way to indicate library updates are available, taking into account the differing menu presentation in the mobile apps.

Prompt on logging out
If you accidentally log out "in the field" where there is no internet access, you are locked out of Bird Journal, until you can re-establish internet access. It would be useful if a "Are you sure you want to log out?" prompt was displayed (preferably with a default of "No")

Allow maps to rotate
Provide an option to swivel the map around rather than having to twist your head off your shoulders! (Originally suggested by Ian Bennell)
FEEDBACK NEEDED: Which maps would this be useful for? Picking geotags, browsing maps or both?

Default checklist filter by checklist location
Don't count a bird against a checklist in which it has not been observed. I noticed that American Robin is already counted against my Czech Republic checklist even though I have not observed it there, but because I have seen it elsewhere. Filters can take care of this, but I find it a little odd.

add shortcut filter for seasonal lists
Would be nice to define dates for seasons in settings (winter is different in N hemisphere than in south). Then can count, filter, and compare against a winter checklist, etc. This is also nice for migration checklists and counting. Would also assist in submitting seasonal observations to local records committees.
