RSS Feed of records
I had an idea to be able to export records to a CMS template/Theme for either Wordpress or Joomla but Bird Journal have suggested an RSS feed (I presume from our cloud accounts). I like this idea and would like others to support if they like it too?

Consolidate entries of same Date and Location
When I imported from another database, separate entries were created for the same date and location due to different property fields being assigned (such as singing, photograph, heard only). It would be nice to consolidate multiple entries to a single entry.

Abundance of species list
It would be nice to be able to print out a yearly abundance of species list.

Remember the last used Locations
It would be good to remember the last few (5 - 10?) locations used. I personally have 773 locations, but - without looking at the stats - I'd imagine I use about 5 of them 95+% of the time. If those last 5 were at the top it would be very useful. Unfortunately, I'm more likely to use "Fowlmere" or "Cambridge Botanic Gardens", sooner than I'll be using "Tierra del Fuego", "Chitwan", or "Lamington National Park"; but they still have equal prominence when scrolling through to select a location.
Maybe it could even default to the closet location on the…

Entry screen bird list as a grid (preferrably using 4 or 6 letter codes)
When listing I always use the ABA 4-letter species codes. It would be awesome to be able to view birds in a grid based on the codes. So the screen would look something like this:
ABTO ACFL ACWO AKOH ALFL
ALTE ALHU ALOR AMAV AMBI
AMBD AMCO AMCR AMDI AMFL
AMGP AMGO AMOY AMPI AMRE
etc. This would allow you to see way more species on a single screen and would make selecting species by scrolling faster and easier. Anyway, have a grid option combined with adding the ability to view synonym packs (making codes available) in the mobile app…

Family groups in the taxonomic list in the mobile version
The taxonomic list in the beta is great but if working with a very long list it means a lot of scrolling is needed. If family headings are included this will make it quicker to scroll through them. Even better would be to allow the families to collapse so that we could quickly scroll to the family and then locate the bird.
A scroll bar that actually gives feedback as to where you are in the list would be useful, if such a thing exists in iOS.4 votes -
Importing non-standard data
Provide a template(s) for importing data that is independent of other commercial software. Some people have huge amounts of data that is not in 'birding software'.

Auto-download photos
Allow to automatically download and store photos to each copy of Bird Journal as part of the sync process.
Currently they're downloaded and stored as needed when viewed, or all-at-once using the "Download all Photos" item in the tools menu.

Option to swap units: Effort distance (Miles/km) and effort area units (Acres/hectares)
It's would be interesting to add an option to swap distance and area units when you want to set either the effort distance or the effort area in an entry

make it possible to list the day's sightings in chronological order.
I'd like to be able to review my sightings made on a particular day in the order I saw them. To a degree I can do this via the map, as long as I remember my route, but I'd like to be able to choose to order the list of sightings like this if I wanted to.

Allow simple checklist recording
I only want to mark species as seen for my year/life list. I'm not interested in recording individual observations with dates and locations.

Export entry data to Excel in correct taxonomic order
Currently data is exported to excel in the order it was recorded. It would be much more useful for the order to be exported in the taxonomic order of the species.

allow comparison between sightings in given years
i.e. for year 1 list sightings with comparison for year 2 highlighting sightings seen in both years and sightings seen only in year 1 or 2. Preferably with the option to specify a date range.

Allow bulk update between taxonomies
For example, maybe you want to switch to recording with IOC instead of Clements, maybe you want to use the version of a wildlife taxonomy from the library rather than a custom item.
This is separate from replacing individual species which will be completed as part of the taxonomy update work, now started: http://support.birdjournal.com/forums/262707-general/suggestions/11372313-update-ioc-clements-world-lists-taxonomy-changes

Add eBird entry data (protocol, # of observers, distance/area traveled) etc. to mobile app
Please add eBird entry data (protocol, # of observers, distance/area traveled) etc. to the mobile app, so it isn't necessary to go into the windows application later and add that data for export to eBird.

Allow auto-renewing subscriptions for Europe
European tax law has changed, adding a lot of additional paperwork for us to continue selling into Europe (outside of the United Kingdom) from our website.
It is still possible to purchase single-year Bird Journal Premium subscriptions from our apps via the Apple AppStore or Google Play.
Please vote for this item if you would like us to resume selling auto-renewing subscriptions or gift certificates, Europe-wide, from our website.

please put back the running total of species observations on the day list, so that I can see just how good a day I'm having.
In previous versions on the iphone when inputting sightings it was possible to scroll down to the # icon at the bottom of the alphabet list and see the running total for the day. I would like to see this feature reinstated so that I can keep track of how I'm doing species-wise on a day out. On the latest version I have to save the list to see a total (which means having to reset the location filter list to start again).

Filterable Maps for iOS and Android
Add filterable maps to the mobile apps, like those found on the Windows desktop version of Bird Journal, so you can easily visualise where you've been birding, where you've seen certain species or taken photos.

Lists
Being a person who keeps lists a facility to create a list of seen wildlife be it Geographic, circumstances. This would include Country, County Local Patch etc. I actually note wildlife I see from aircraft [sad I know] so I miss this facitlity.
