We have observed this problem with Norton internet security, specifically with the 'smart' firewall feature. Disabling the smart firewall resolves the issue, but it is recommended to add an exception for Bird Journal, rather than disabling the firewall permanently.
Other internet security packages may cause the same problem, so it is worth exploring the settings for these to see if they may be blocking internet access for Bird Journal.
