[Versions 2, 3 & 4] Change localisation settings on the Windows app, how-to

Note: This article is for an older version.

Navigate to localisation

The localisation options let you customise the preferred language and taxonomy used throughout Bird Journal. The localisation feature can be found in Options > Localisation.

Customise language

You can customise the language used to display species names by setting the preferred language. The preferred language setting will apply to taxonomies that contain the selected language, otherwise the species names will default to English names.

Set preferred taxonomy

The preferred taxonomy can be set for local and world taxonomy. For example if you live in the UK you may wish to set the local taxonomy to the ‘United Kingdom (BOU)’ and the World taxonomy to ‘The World IOC’, this will ensure that the spellings for the species names are correct for your country i.e Grey and Gray.
