Why are dates showing in US format on the desktop app, I'm in the UK?!

The Bird Journal desktop app uses date settings in Windows. It is however a little more fussy than most other applications, hence you may find the date is shown in US format, even though other applications are showing dates in UK format as expected.

For Windows 10:

To resolve this go to Settings in Windows. Go to "Time & Language". Scroll down to "Additional date, time & regional settings" and click it.

A new window will open for Clock, Language and Region. Under the Region heading press "Change location".  Make sure Home location is set to United Kingdom.
